Description
Rhydygarreg is a cottage built from whitewashed rubble stone, featuring a slate close-eaved roof and three chimneys: a brick stack at the right end, a ridge stack towards the right, and a stone ridge stack towards the left, all with dripstones and a capstone. The cottage is single storey and consists of seven bays. To the left of the stone chimney, there is a 4-pane sash window and a board door, both with brick heads. The door is positioned against the chimney and is set within a rubble stone lean-to porch, with the window to its left. The central section, which is the original part of the cottage, is located between the ridge chimneys and features two small windows with 6-pane glazing, stone slab lintels, and slate sills, along with a board door with a timber lintel to the right. The last bay between the brick chimneys includes a taller door with a brick head similar to those at the left end.
The interior has not been inspected. The layout consists of a central room with a door opening onto the side of the main fireplace, and an unheated partitioned parlour to the left. Behind the chimney at the right end was a narrow dairy or kitchen with a wicker hood to the chimney. An addition at the left end is a single room that also has a door opening onto the side of a fireplace.
