Description
Ffynon-oer is a small cottage with a downslope byre or stable on the right side. It is mainly constructed of cob, with the front of the house rendered and painted. The roof is made of corrugated iron, which sweeps down over an added section on the left, with thatch underneath. The eaves are wide and boarded or sheeted. There is a small brick chimney stack on the former left gable.
The main part of the building consists of a two-bay cottage and a two-bay byre or stable. The house features battered walls and has a late 19th-century four-pane horned sash window on the left, with a boarded door to the right that has a smooth-rendered architrave. A sloping buttress is positioned between the door and the window. The byre or stable is slightly recessed but shares the same roofline as the house, with painted cob walls. It has a divided boarded door on the left that rises to the eaves, and a lower part-glazed door on the right.
At the left end of the house, there is a two-bay addition that is also made of cob. This addition features two four-pane horned sash windows. The right end of the building has a gable that is partly covered in corrugated iron, while the left (road) end is painted cob, treated similarly. There is a corrugated-iron shed attached to the rear right corner.
The interior was not inspected, but it is reported to retain several scarfed crucks. The thatch on the roof remains intact.
