Description
46 Pendre is a pair of large three-storey, two-window houses built as part of a single terrace. They are constructed from brown sandstone banded in blue lias, topped with a slate roof and a matching stone stack at the south end. The north end stack has been rebuilt in brick. Each pair features a four-window arrangement of closely spaced sashes, which include cambered painted voussoirs and painted slate sills, with six-pane square upper windows and twelve-pane first floor windows.
Originally, the ground floor had paired centre doors with lozenge-patterned overlights, incised decoration on the piers, and paired cornices supported by scrolled brackets.
Numbers 44-45 retain half of the original doorcase and both overlights, along with a 20th-century projecting shop window to the right and a late 19th or early 20th-century shop window to the left, which projects with canted sides and has a fascia extending over the door.
Numbers 46-47 have only the centre pier with incised decoration, which supports a large console bracket for the fascia linking two late 19th-century projecting shop windows. The left shop window spans the entire two-window range, while the right has a recessed door. Both windows feature canted sides and plate glass, with an overall fascia and cornice.
