Description
The gates and railings at Capel Carmel are made of silver-painted iron and feature decorative fleur-de-lys heads. The design includes tapering stanchions adorned with ornate fleur-de-lys heads. There are low front walls made of rubble stone, which return to the chapel front on each side and are topped with slate coping. The central area showcases fine pierced openwork iron piers that have caps and large ball finials. The pair of gates matches the railings and includes low dog bars between them. On each end, there are double gates that provide access to the sides, featuring similar rails and dog bars, with the top rails sloping down to the center and outer posts that end in wrought iron scrolls. The gatepiers are square in section, made of cast iron, and are panelled with coved pyramid caps.
