Description
Lower Bwlch is a 1½-storey, 2-window house constructed from whitened rubble stone with a slate roof. It features a small brick stack to the left of the center and a cross wing, which is the original part of the house, that has a lower eaves line, a slate roof, and a roughcast stack at the rear. The central doorway is located within an added wooden porch. To the right of the doorway is a horizontal-sliding sash window, and there is a similar window in a gabled dormer above. On the left side, there are similar 2-light windows in a late 20th-century extension. The cross wing is weatherboarded.
To the right of the house is the farm range, which has a slightly lower ridge line. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded on a rubble-stone plinth where the ground slopes steeply. The farm range includes a wagon bay at the left end next to the house, two boarded doors, and two loft openings further to the right. At the right end, there is a split boarded door leading to a former stable at a lower level. Behind the farm range is a rubble-stone outshut, with its end wall rebuilt in blockwork.
Although not inspected, it is reported by RCAHM Wales that the older part of the house retains three cruck trusses and has a lobby-entry plan in the 19th-century addition.
