Description

Clynheddwch is a two-storey building with an attic, constructed with English bond brickwork and featuring extensive tile hanging. The roof is tiled and includes large arch panelled brick chimneys. The central block is two storeys high, with a raised tile-hung cornice and a hipped roof. It has a prominent large 4-light mullioned and transomed gabled dormer, topped with a wind vane.

On the first floor, there are narrow canted transomed timber bays supported by brackets, and a 4-light mullioned and transomed window with leaded glazing on the ground floor. The entrance is located in a block at the re-entrant angle to the left, featuring a limestone Tudor-arched doorcase with a high set label moulding and a panelled door. The first floor above the entrance jetties on shaped joists, is tile hung, and has a lean-to roof. The other windows are irregularly placed, primarily consisting of mullioned and transomed moulded frames.

The south wing has a gable stack, while the north cross wing is also two storeys with a low hipped roof, and its upper floor is tile hung. This wing features moulded mullioned and transomed windows, with the first-floor window supported on timber brackets, and a lean-to at the north end. The rear elevation is more symmetrical, showcasing two tile-hung gables and a raised central section with a half hipped roof.

Inside, the drawing room, located at the angle of the south wing, has a bay window with curved glass and an open balustraded first-floor balcony, along with a large bow window at the rear. The building was not accessible during the inspection in July 1995, but it is noted to have an arched feature in the hall and a stone fireplace in the drawing room. The kitchen and services are situated at the northwest end.
