Description
The barn and attached cow house at Dolydre Farm form an L-shaped plan and date from the 18th century. Both structures are timber-framed and feature weatherboarding, topped with steep corrugated iron roofs. The barn includes a wagon bay entrance to the right of center, which is elevated above the eaves, although the doors are missing. A wide opening for vehicle access has been created on the left side. The rear elevation of the barn has had the wagon bay infilled with framing and now includes a boarded door. The cow house features a wide central full-height opening, a loft opening beneath raked half dormers, and a small opening to the left of center. A modern shed is located behind the cow house.
Inside the barn, there are five bays that retain four cruck trusses, most of which still have their tie and collar beams, along with box-framed ends. The cow house also has five bays and features tie-beam trusses, which include either king posts with raking struts or just raking struts.
