Description
Lower Peniarth is a 17th-century timber-framed building, constructed with whitewashed stone in the 19th century and topped with a slate roof. It features three bays and follows a Type C lobby entry plan, with a parlour and service rooms partially set into the ground above the hall. There is a store or granary located above, accessible from the roadway. An attached cowhouse is situated at the parlour end, and there is an unusually large star-plan stone stack.
The main entrance has a door with a glazed panel and an overlight. The building includes six-paned windows with iron casements for the lower centre light, three-light windows on the first floor, and some 20th-century steel-framed windows.
The building was not accessible at the time of inspection. Inside, there are parallel spine beams, and a framed inner partition recorded by Smith appears to have been altered.
