Description
Fforest Farmhouse is a 2½-storey house built from whitened rubble stone, topped with a slate roof and featuring a roughcast stack on the right. The openings on the lower storey have wooden lintels, while the upper storey and attic have brick segmental heads. The central 19th-century porch has a segmental arch made of freestone voussoirs and a glazed front door. The lower and middle storeys contain 16-pane horned sash windows, and there are two gabled dormers with 12-pane horned sashes. On the right gable end, there is a small window on the left side of each storey. To the right, French doors have been inserted, along with a window above and a small attic window. The rear of the house features a short gabled wing with a raked buttress and an added outshut on its right side, as well as a flat-roof projection on the left. All rear windows have been replaced. The left gable end has a segmental-headed small-pane window in the upper right, above a lower attached range that houses workshops.
Inside, a former entrance hall leads to a closed-string stair at the rear. The room on the right has spine beams. The house is also reported to retain two fireplaces with moulded stone jambs, which may have been reclaimed from the nearby castle ruins.
