Description

Home Farm is a 2-storey, 5-bay house built from whitewashed rubble stone, topped with a hipped slate roof and featuring stone stacks on the right and left of the center. The front of the house is symmetrical, with the outer bays set back slightly. It has small-pane horizontal sliding sash windows, except for a vertical sash window in the right-hand bay, and a blind window above the doorway. The doorway itself features a boarded door beneath a simple late 19th-century wooden canopy.

On the right side wall, there is a set-back outshut with a boarded door and fixed lights at the front. The left side has a lower, 1-storey kitchen and service wing that runs parallel to the main house. This wing includes a boarded door with an overlight to the right, a 12-pane sash window under a segmental head, and two boarded doors to cold stores under segmental heads at the left end. The end wall of the wing has a barred opening for the cold store and a glazed attic opening. At the back of the wing, there is a stone stack that has been heightened in brick, along with an added brick stack, a casement window to the right, and a horned sash window at the left end.

The rear of the main house features a central half-lit boarded door flanked by lean-tos, with a larger projection at the left end. In the upper storey, there are small-pane horizontal sash windows in the center and right-hand bays.

Inside, a narrow entrance hall leads to a straight stair with thin square balusters. A corridor runs along the back of the house, providing access to the four main ground-floor rooms, which have plain panelled doors. The wing has a flagstone floor and is said to retain a bread oven, although this was not seen during the inspection.
