Description

Holly Cottage is a two-storey cottage that dates back to the early 18th century. It features an original house facing north with a stair projection on its right side, and an early 19th-century wing to the right that projects behind, creating an L-shape. The cottage is constructed of rubble stone, mostly painted white, with a gabled thatch roof on the original house and a hipped thatch roof on the wing. A central stone ridge stack is a rebuild from the 19th century.

The original house has an early 19th-century doorway located to the left of center in the north wall, positioned under projecting eaves. To the right of the doorway is a two-light fixed-pane window with a moulded surround and a thin hood mould. Further to the right, the wing features a two-light casement window in a similar early 19th-century surround with a hood mould. On the right side wall of the wing, there is a Tudor-headed doorway to the left and an inserted four-light window to the right.

The upper storey includes two two-light mullioned windows with moulded surrounds and hood moulds, which have inserted casements. The left gable end of the main house has a two-light upper-storey casement in a moulded surround. The rear walls of both the wing and the main house have inserted casements.

The original house's plan is partially preserved, featuring a gable end entry, an altered fireplace, and a stone fireplace stair.
