Description
44 Heol Maengwyn is an early 19th-century, three-storey building with a two-window facade, finished in painted render and topped with a slate roof that connects to Nos 46 to 50. It features boarded eaves and a chimney stack made of rubble, which has been heightened with red brick. The front includes nine and twelve-pane sash windows. The shopfront, which overlaps with No 46, has a central splayed bay window with a band of small panes at the top, continuing to the left as blind panelling. There are half-glazed doors on either side of the bay window, framed by panelled pilasters.
At the rear, there is a later three-storey, six-window cross range made of rubble, featuring horned four-pane sash windows. This section includes part coursed rubble and some breeze block infill, along with various blocked openings. The arrangement of doors and windows suggests that this may have originally been a terrace of cottages with a weaving loft above. It has a slate roof and a red brick chimney stack, and the cross range includes a sliding sash window.
