Description
19 and 20 Crescent Street in Penygloddfa, Newtown, is a pair of three-storey buildings with a cellar, originally designed as back-to-back houses. The front is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a gently pitched old slate roof with deep boarded eaves and a central brick chimney stack.
The second floor of No 19 has a shallow 8-pane sash window, while No 20 has a later 4-pane sash. Both the first and ground floors have 16-pane sash windows, all with stone lintels and sills and plain reveals. There are cellar openings below the main windows. The doorways have plain doorcases with corniced brackets supporting gabled dripboards. No 19 retains its original six-panel door, while No 20 has a modern replacement. The rear elevation is slate hung and also features deep boarded eaves.
