Description

Stone House is a 1½-storey residence constructed with rubble-stone walls. It features a slate roof at the front, while the rear is covered with corrugated iron and corrugated asbestos-cement sheets. A central stone stack is present, and the openings have drip moulds. The main entrance consists of a boarded door with a glazed panel inserted. To the left of the entrance is a 4-light wooden mullioned and transomed window with ovolo moulding, while the window on the right side has been replaced. There are two added gabled dormers, each fitted with replacement mid-20th century windows.

On the left (downhill) gable end, there is a boarded cellar door, a 4-pane window on the lower storey, and a 2-light attic casement, all of which are insertions. The rear of the house features an inserted doorway to the left of centre with a half-glazed door and drip mould, a small central stair light, and a further 2-light casement to the right. Additionally, there is a narrow cellar opening on the right side. In the uphill gable end, the lower-storey window has been removed and boarded up, with an inserted 2-light attic window above.

Inside, the house retains its original lobby entry and a nearly symmetrical plan, including back-to-back fireplaces. The hall on the left contains a fireplace with a cambered lintel and an oven, with a stone stair located to the left of the fireplace. A cross beam features a stepped stop, and a box-framed partition separates the hall from a small unheated parlour. The kitchen on the right side has a fireplace with a plain lintel and a bread oven. A box-framed partition that separates the service room is partially intact but obscured by a 19th-century inserted stair.
