Description

Church House Farm, which includes an attached cow house, is a two-storey building constructed from rubble stone with a slate roof. It features a brick stack to the right of the center and a roughcast stack to the left. The openings are topped with wooden lintels, and the casement windows have blue-brick sills. The main entrance is located to the right of center and consists of a boarded door with an overlight. To the right of the entrance, there are two three-light casement windows on each storey. To the left, there is a four-light window, followed by a boarded door leading to the back kitchen, a three-light window, and a two-light window that is partially boarded up. Above the main openings, there are three three-light windows on the upper storey. A further bay at the right end of the house is weatherboarded and has a boarded door along with a shuttered opening. The roughcast left gable end features an inserted upper-storey window and an added ty bach. The rear elevation includes an outshut on the right side and three upper-storey windows situated under the eaves. On the lower left, there is a corrugated iron lean-to, which has been described by RCAHM Wales as an engine house.

The cow house is positioned at right angles to the house against the east gable end and is lower than the main house. It is built from rubble stone with a weatherboarded loft and a slate roof, part of which has been replaced with corrugated metal sheets. Facing the yard, it has a single boarded door and two shuttered loft openings. The south gable end features a doorway to the right, which has been rebuilt in brick above the lintel, and a shuttered opening to the left, as well as in the loft. The rear of the cow house has three square-headed manure pitching holes.

Although not inspected, a survey by RCAHM Wales recorded the joist-beam ceiling of a former parlour at the left end, which is now the back kitchen, and a cruck truss with sharply elbowed plates.
