Description
Cwm yr Hob Farm features a 2-storey, 2-window house built from rubble stone, topped with a slate roof and a stone stack on the left. The openings date from around 1825 and are set under flat stone arches on the lower storey. The doorway on the left has a boarded door, while the casement windows, which are replacements in iron and wooden frames, include a larger 3-light hall window in the center. Attached to the house is a farm range made of rubble stone, with a roof of corrugated iron and slate, which includes a former cow house and a stable at the downhill end.
To the immediate left of the house, there is a timber-framed bay clad in corrugated iron, featuring a replaced boarded door that leads to the original hearth passage and a loft opening. Further left, where the wall is made of rubble stone, there are two boarded doors and similar double doors, with a loft opening to the right. The left gable end has been rebuilt using blockwork. At the rear, there is an open-sided store supported by timber posts. The house also has a continuous rear outshut under a catslide roof, which has a shallow projection on the right. The openings at the back have brick heads, including an inserted door on the left and a former doorway in the center-right, which has been converted to a window under a brick cambered head.
Although not inspected, it is reported by RCAHM Wales that the house retains the original plan of hall and parlour and has preserved timber-framing between the main range and the outshut, which is part of the original outside wall.
