Description
This is an 8-bay barn, likely dating to the 18th century, constructed from stone rubble and now topped with a corrugated roof. It features two sets of double doors facing each other, with a roof overhang forming a hood above. A distinctive regional feature, and nationally uncommon, are the paired threshing floors, reflecting the prosperity of the area. The barn has two rows of ventilation slits, with three slits at each gable end, and a double row of red brick pigeon holes positioned above a stone ledge. Adjoining the main barn range is a 3-bay granary to the left, accessible by stone steps at the gable end, which also include cart sheds below. The granary displays segmental arches over two ground-floor doorways, a window on the left, and the granary openings above, mirroring the gable end treatment. A pigeon loft extends horizontally across the entire range at the same level as the granary. A later, single-storey range is attached at a right angle to the original barn. The interior features collar and tie beam trusses with three rows of trenched purlins, and the floor is largely earth.
