Description
The Western cartshed at Coed-y-dinas is a single-storey structure built around 1850, serving as part of a home-farm for the Powis Estate by the mid 19th century. While the farm has early origins, no buildings on the site date earlier than the late 18th century. The farm underwent significant redevelopment in the 1870s as 'Lord Powis's Model Farm', but this cartshed likely predates that period.
The building is constructed of brick and features a hipped slate roof. It has an open front with five bays supported by cast-iron columns resting on padstones. This cartshed is a notable example of mid 19th-century agricultural architecture and contributes to the group of buildings at Coed-y-dinas Farm.
