Description
13A Broad Street is a three-storey building with a buff brick frontage and a slate roof, featuring gable end stacks. The front has a two-window range, with the ground floor divided into two modern shop fronts. Above, there are wide 16-pane sash windows on each floor, each topped with flat arched rendered heads that include stressed keystones.
The rear wing is rendered, with the lower floor rebuilt in brick on its eastern elevation. The upper storey, which is box-framed and jettied, remains intact behind the rendering, showing a bressumer and some moulded brackets, while the rest features square panelled framing with wattle and daub infill. The gable's framing was removed and replaced around 1990. It is reported that the framing on the inaccessible western elevation is still intact.
Inside the rear wing, there is a large blocked central fireplace and transverse main beams. In the attic storey, there are two closed trusses with windbraces, and the central truss shows smoke-blackening, featuring a king post and curved braces to a cambered collar.
