Description

The Aberbechan Aqueduct is a three-arched masonry structure built to span the Bechan Brook. It is designed with a concave curve and features three segmental arches. The aqueduct is constructed from finely dressed stone and includes hoodmoulds and a string course above the arches. The central arch is flanked by keeled cutwaters, which support pilasters that define the high stone-faced wall of the trough situated above the arches. This wall ends in a plain cornice and is complemented by simple cast-iron railings on the tow-path side.
