Description

Brookhouse Farmhouse is a three-storey house with a symmetrical front, featuring earlier origins and a lower two-storey adjoining range to the right, which has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of coursed rubble, with stones that diminish in size towards the eaves, and has a slate roof, boarded eaves, and brick end stacks. The front has three windows, all of which are three-light metal-frame casements with voussoir lintels. The second floor has only two windows, with a central blank masonry space. The central door is recessed, consisting of four panels and boarded, and is topped by a semi-circular hood with a six-pane semi-circular fanlight.

To the right, there is possibly a 16th-century two-storey range with masonry that is partly bonded in. This range also has a slate roof and a brick stack, with casement windows and a boarded door at the entrance to a former screens passage, which has stairs leading off to the right. Inside, the kitchen features a feather-stop chamfer beam to the right, while the hall is to the left. The rear has a cat-slide roof and a part-rendered rubble chimney stack that has been heightened in brick beside the rear entrance to the passage.

The main house has a rubble gable end and rear wall, with few windows, some of which have cambered heads and one metal frame. There are no windows on the second floor.
