Terrace Walk at Leighton Hall

The terrace walk at Leighton Hall is a 19th-century structure that runs along the north front of the hall and continues on the east side, leading to the steps in front of the entrance to Leighton Hall Tower. It is built from coursed, rock-faced Cefn stone with ashlar dressings. The northern section features a low retaining wall with ramped coping, complemented by curved steps to the west and straight steps to the east, which align with the bow and bay windows of the hall. The terrace ends with a north-south wall to the west, which includes a tall octagonal pier adorned with a frieze of blank shields beneath battlements. This wall returns to the hall, featuring an embattled doorway. At the northeast corner, there is an additional flight of steps where the terrace wall turns south and continues, stepping out to follow the layout of the hall, leading to the steps beside the tower.
