Description

Colfryn Farmhouse is a fine late Georgian farmhouse built in the 18th century. It is a double-pile structure with three storeys and three windows, constructed from local warm light red brick. The front features Flemish bond brickwork, while the sides and rear are in English Garden Wall Bond. The brickwork is mostly plain, with a slight plinth and a dentil cornice at the eaves and verges. There are yellow brick chimneys at both ends of each pile, adorned with string courses and dentil cornices. The roofs are covered with slate and have tile ridges. At the front and left side, there is a raised brick-paved podium that is level with a sunken paved area on the right side of the house.

The windows have been restored to a high standard. The front features hornless sash windows, with the second storey windows being smaller (12 panes in unequal sashes) compared to the others, which have 16 panes. The windows have thin glazing bars and float glass, with wedge-shaped stone lintels and stone sills painted white. The front windows are the only ones with rendered and white painted reveals in the London manner. The entrance includes a six-panel door with glazed top panels and a rectangular overlight.

On the left side elevation, there are windows at the front of each pile on the first and second storeys, along with three ground storey windows and a door. These windows are hornless sashes with nine and 12 panes, featuring wedge-shaped stone lintels and stone sills. The right side elevation has small-pane casement windows at the centre on the first and second storeys, and a sash window at the front on the ground storey. The rear elevation includes small-pane casement windows with mullions and transoms.

There is an L-shaped single-storey rear extension with a small yard on the north side, which has a door at the angle with stone steps and mullion and transom windows. The interior has not been seen.
