Description
The outbuilding at Tir Uched is a two-storey structure built from whitewashed rubble stone and topped with a slate roof. It features a one-bay gig house with a workshop that faces the driveway, and a stable located at the rear, which includes a hay-loft above. The elevation that faces the main house is symmetrical, featuring a central door with a leaded overlight leading into the stable, flanked by three-light leaded windows on either side, and a central iron casement. The roof is hipped, and there are double doors leading into the gig house. An additional section has been cut into the bank, with a double door also facing the driveway.
Inside, the stable is divided into two loose boxes by a boarded stalling with an iron barred upper section. There is a service bench located under the window, along with saddle and harness brackets mounted above. The stable boasts a high ceiling supported by three transverse beams. The gig house workshop includes a lateral stone fireplace. The roof structure features principal rafters that are morticed into stub ties and pegged to raking struts that connect from the low-set collar to the wall, with two tiers of purlins.
