Description
The railway bridge at Treble Hill was built around 1864-1865 for the Hereford, Hay and Brecon Branch of the Mid-Wales Railway. It is constructed from rock-faced ashlar sandstone, with the corners and features having a margin-draughted finish, and the vault made of brick. The bridge features a tall semi-circular arch that rises from a projecting string course, with pronounced voussoirs and keystones. It is flanked by piers that have pilasters standing forward of the sharply curved flank retaining walls of the embankment. A limestone cornice and caps adorn the pilasters. The bridge remains in its original condition on the northwest side, while the southeast side has a slightly extended parapet made of iron.
