Description
Hafod y Llan, also known as the Old Rectory, is a house dating from the 18th century, originally a small two-bay dwelling. It is constructed of painted stone with an asbestos slate roof. The original house consisted of a hall with a gable stack and inner rooms. In the mid-19th century, likely around 1841, it was extended to the east by two window bays, and a substantial rear extension was added, creating a three-storey range. A gabled porch with turned balusters, set on stone wing walls, features a datestone above the entrance reading 'Laus Deo I.G.K. MDCCCXLIII', commemorating Rector I.G. Kirkham. The front of the house has two and three-light cast iron lattice windows on two floors facing the church. A large stone stack, originally at the gable end with stepped weatherings, was raised in brick during the late 19th century. External stone steps lead to the attic at the left end of the house. The rear of the property is not visible.
