Description
Pen-y-borfa fawr is a two-storey house with an attic, built from coursed squared greywacke rubble and topped with a slate roof. The building features three bays, with the central bay sharply gabled and a two-storey, one-bay rear wing. The front entrance has a central panelled door with a tall margin-glazed overlight, set deeply within panelled reveals. The windows are twelve-paned sashes set in openings with slightly cambered heads, while the attic gable includes a pointed-headed sash window with intersecting glazing bars. The eaves are wide and boxed, supported by brackets from a high corbelling course, and the central gable is adorned with cusped openwork bargeboards. Gable stacks are present on the roof. The rear wing is slate hung and also features twelve-paned sashes and a gable stack. The property was not accessible during the inspection in May 1996.
