Description
The L-plan range at Cwm Farm, dating from 1673, includes a barn, byre, wainhouse, and granary, all covered with iron roofs.
The south range features a three-bay barn, which is one of the earliest dated barns in Radnorshire. It has square panel framing resting on a rubble base, although it is in deteriorating condition with only partial survival of the side wall framing behind the weatherboards. There are stave holes indicating the original wattle infill, and diagonal braces are positioned in front of the panels, along with chiselled assembly marks. The two end trusses include a tie beam, queen studs, a collar, and two angle braces, while the trusses flanking the central bay have a tie beam and two long raking braces. Bay partitions are made of a rubble base wall, with braces extending from the side plate to the wall posts, and a central post that reaches up to the tie beam.
At the north end, there is a later single bay that adjoins the west range, which contains the byre, an open-fronted wainhouse, and a granary that is accessed by stone steps at the gable end. The structure has a high rubble base wall with a stud and weatherboarded upper section.
