Description

The farm buildings located immediately to the northwest of Burfa are a good quality L-plan range built in the mid to late 19th century. This complex includes a pony stable, trap house, loose boxes, a working-horse stable, a granary, open-fronted cowsheds, and an implement shed. Part of the north range features an 18th-century barn with a high rubble plinth and end walls, while the side walls are stub and weather-boarded. Only the tie-beams of the trusses remain, and the hooped iron roof is supported by metal rods.

The main range is one-and-a-half storeys tall and consists of three gabled bays, with snecked rubble block walls that have a plinth and dressed quoins. The windows have voussoir cambered heads and stone cills, with timber slatted openings and ventilation slits that feature single dressed stone heads with arched tops and stone cills. The building has a brick dentil eaves course and slate roofs. The door frames are solid and chamfered, with boarded doors. At the rear, a sliding metal door conceals a fine arched entry to the trap house. The front elevation of the cowshed has seven bays, supported by chamfered wooden posts with angle braces to the wallplates, with some bays partially infilled with tin sheeting and rear feeding passages.
