Description
11 Church Street is a late-Georgian, two-storey, double-fronted house featuring a rendered front, a slate roof, and brick stacks located on the rear side of the ridge. The openings are positioned slightly to the left of centre. The entrance consists of a recessed, replacement six-panel door with glazed upper panels, set within a wooden doorcase that has brackets supporting a deep hood.
The windows are twelve-pane horned sashes with moulded surrounds, with the upper windows located at eaves height. The rear of the house has two original first-floor openings, although these have been fitted with replacement two-light metal casement windows. There is a small-pane stair window centrally located, and a replacement window on the lower left. An overlight with small panes above the back door suggests that the current door is wider than the original. On the right side, there is a one-storey flat-roof projection from the late 20th century, which replaces a projection that appeared on the 1903 Ordnance Survey map.
Inside, the ground floor is arranged around a central narrow hall, with doorways leading to two rooms on each side, all featuring replacement panel doors, and a closed-string stairway at the rear. One of the rear rooms still shows remnants of a former bread oven, and there is exposed timber framing from the adjoining property at 10 Church Street.
