Description
Morris Cottages is a group of ten two-storey cottages arranged in reflected pairs, featuring a central tunnel passage. The cottages have colourwashed rubble front walls and slate roofs, with some roofs renewed and others grouted. The chimney stacks are made of rubble and have weathercourses, with some rendered. Most of the cottages have horned sash windows, with only one small pane window on the first floor of No 15. The other windows generally do not have glazing bars, except for No 23, which has four-pane sashes. No 23 also includes a later small pane casement window over the passage, while Nos 19 and 21 have modern windows. The ground floor windows feature cambered voussoirs, and only No 15 retains a boarded door; the others have half-glazed doors, with No 21 having a modern recessed door as a later alteration. The left end of the cottages is scribed rendered, the right end is rubble, and the rear is colourwashed rubble with mostly modern windows, some lean-tos, and a modern cross range to the left. The passage is slate flagged and has whitewashed rubble walls. Additionally, the pairs of cottages at Nos 19 and 21, as well as Nos 25 and 27, have been combined into single properties.
