Description
Morris Cottages comprise a group of ten two-storey cottages arranged in reflected pairs, with a central tunnel passage. The cottages were built using colourwashed rubble stone with l-window fronts, and have slate roofs, some of which have been renewed, while others are grouted. There are rubble chimney stacks with weathercourses, some of which are rendered. Most windows are horned sashes; one window on the first floor of number 15 has small panes, while the other windows lack glazing bars, except for number 23 which has four-pane sashes. Number 23 also has a later small-paned casement window over the passage, and numbers 19 and 21 have modern windows. The ground floor windows are arched with cambered voussoirs. Boarded doors have been retained only at number 15, while the others are half-glazed, with a later recessed door at number 21. The left end of the cottages is scribed and rendered, the right end is rubble, and the rear is colourwashed rubble stone with mostly modern windows, some lean-tos, and a modern cross range to the left. The passage is paved with slate flags and has whitewashed rubble walls. Numbers 19 and 21, and numbers 25 and 27 have been combined to form single, larger properties.
