Morris Cottages

Morris Cottages is a row of ten 2-storey cottages arranged in reflected pairs, featuring a central tunnel passage. The cottages have colourwashed rubble front walls and slate roofs, with some roofs renewed and others grouted. The chimney stacks are made of rubble and have weathercourses, with some rendered. Most of the cottages have horned sash windows; however, only one window on the first floor of No 15 is a small pane, while the others lack glazing bars except for No 23, which has 4-pane sashes. No 23 also features a later small pane casement window above the passage, and Nos 19 and 21 have modern windows. The ground floor windows have cambered voussoirs, and only No 15 retains a boarded door, while the others have half-glazed doors. The modern door of No 21 is recessed, indicating a later alteration. The left end of the row is scribed rendered, the right end is rubble, and the rear is colourwashed rubble with mostly modern windows, some lean-tos, and a modern cross range to the left. The passage is slate flagged and has whitewashed rubble walls. Additionally, the pairs of cottages at Nos 19 and 21, and 25 and 27, have been combined into single properties.
