Description
The Posting House, which includes the Potlatch, is a two-storey building with an attic, featuring a red brick frontage. There is a vertical joint towards the left end, projecting headers at the eaves, a band course, and a projecting plinth. The roof is slate with ridge tiles, and there is a rendered centre gablet adorned with bargeboards and an arched window head, although this has been replaced by a plain opening.
The building has 12-pane sash windows set in plain reveals, with cambered heads on the ground floor to the left. A cantilevered two-light bay is positioned above the centre six-panel door, which is flanked by plain pilasters and an entablature. To the right, there is a 19th-century double shop front with pilasters.
The original construction features a box-frame design with brick infill, which is exposed on the gable ends. At the rear, there is a higher original wing with a brick stack, and narrow flush-set sashes are present in the return elevation to the left.
