Description
The Coach House at Rose Hill is a Neoclassical style building, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a hipped slate roof. The structure consists of three bays, with two-storey bays on each side of a central advanced bay. This central bay has a blind Serlian archway adorned with red sandstone dressings and a red sandstone string course. The flanking bays contain openings, including some blocked openings and later windows on the upper floor.
On the left side, there is an attached brick arcade with a flat roof, cornice, and four arched openings, which connects to Rose Hill house. Behind this arcade, a stone external staircase leads to an opening on the upper floor. The right side features an attached curved wall that connects to a small square plan two-storey red brick pavilion, which may have been a former game larder. This pavilion has dentilled eaves cornice and a slate hipped roof, along with an external staircase and altered or blocked openings.
The rear elevation includes a central arched opening with board doors, flanked by two-storey bays that have doors and openings with later windows on the upper floor. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey in October 1994.
