Description
The barn at Rose Hill is a Grade II listed structure featuring timber framing with brick infill and red sandstone rubble, complemented by squared quoins and a slate roof. There are some alterations made in red brick and the use of iron tie-plates. The barn has a rectilinear plan, with red sandstone rubble ranges at each end that include ventilation slits and openings, such as pitching eyes, with some later 19th-century alterations. The long central range displays a red sandstone plinth and timber framing arranged in squarish panels, with narrow horizontal timbers suggesting that the original wattle and daub infill has been replaced. There are three doorways, although not all appear to be original. The rear elevation facing the road is partially obscured and features a single doorway. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in October 1994.
