Description
Nos. 1-3 Wrexham Road is a two-storey row of houses featuring five first floor windows and later rear extensions. The buildings are constructed of brick and topped with slate roofs, and there are five rectangular brick chimneys.
Nos. 1 and 2 are single-unit cottages with doorways on the right and windows aligned on each floor. They have steep, two-centred arches over the doorways, which contain boarded doors. The windows have round-arched heads and feature casement glazing with two Gothic lights.
No. 3, known as The Old Smithy, consists of two sections. The left section is a cottage similar to Nos. 1 and 2, while the right section has two windows on the first floor and a doorway, matching the style of the other cottages. The boarded door displays impressions from branding irons, including the name "PEEL," associated with the owners of Bryn-y-Pys. To the right of this door is a window with three Gothic lights.
On the right return, there is one window at first floor level that matches the front, along with a small two-light Gothic window. The ground floor features a broad segmental archway that encloses a Gothic doorway on the right and a two-light Gothic window on the left.
The group of houses is set back from the road, behind narrow forecourts that are enclosed by iron railings and gates.
