Description

Bryn Cottage, which includes iron forecourt railings, is a two-storey row of cottages located on Wrexham Road. The building features five first-floor windows and has later rear extensions. It is constructed of brick with slate roofs and has five rectangular brick chimneys.

Cottages Nos. 1 and 2 are single-unit homes, each with a doorway on the right and windows aligned on both floors. The doorways have steep, two-centred arches and boarded doors, while the windows have round-arched heads and contain casement glazing with two Gothic lights.

No. 3, known as The Old Smithy, is divided into two sections. The left section is a cottage similar to Nos. 1 and 2, while the right section has two windows on the first floor and a doorway that mirrors the others. The boarded door displays impressions from branding irons, including the name "PEEL," associated with the owners of Bryn-y-Pys. To the right of this door is a window featuring three Gothic lights.

On the right return of the building, there is one window at first-floor level similar to those at the front, along with a small two-light Gothic window. The ground floor has a broad segmental archway that encloses a Gothic doorway on the right and a two-light Gothic window on the left.

The group of cottages is set back from the road, with narrow forecourts that are enclosed by iron railings and gates.
