Description
The farmhouse dates from the 18th century and is constructed primarily of tooled ashlar to the front elevation, with the remainder of the building of roughly coursed and squared rubble. It has a hipped slate roof with a prominent overhang, a brick end wall, and rear stacks. The building is two storeys high, with a deep pile plan and a three-window front facing south. The central bay is emphasised by a full-height recessed arch, containing a doorway framed by a reeded pedimented architrave and an interlace fanlight above a six-panelled door. A wide twelve-pane sash window sits above the doorway, with a cambered stone lintel. Similar windows in the outer bays have wedge lintels, while the ground floor windows are six-pane sashes. The west-facing return elevation features casement windows of two and three lights on the first floor, and a doorway and three-light window with small panes, mullions, and a transom on the rear. The rear elevation has a central doorway with a Y-traceried window above it, set within a tall round-arched architrave. The east-facing return exhibits three-light windows with small panes, mullions, and a transom.
Inside, the central entrance hall provides access to the principal rooms facing south. A wide, segmental archway with a radial fanlight and a moulded architrave divides the hall, with a staircase located towards the rear of the house. The farmhouse retains many original features from its period, including plaster ceiling cornices, joinery such as a plain spindle staircase with scrolled tread-ends, panelled doors and window shutters.
