Description

This structure consists of a battery of six large lime kilns built into a steep escarpment between the canal and the A5 road. The kilns are supported by a high retaining wall made of roughly squared and coursed limestone, although the central section has been repaired using concrete. The easternmost access arch is pointed and features three brick voussoir rings. The next two access arches are segmental in shape. The three western access arches are all blocked and are round-headed, each with a single ring of stone voussoirs. It is worth noting that much of the retaining wall over the two westernmost kilns has collapsed.
