Description
The Locomotive Shed at Glyn Valley Tramway is a six-bay single-storey building made of red brick, topped with a corrugated asbestos-cement roof. It features wooden barge boards and a moulded brick plinth. Each bay includes a window with a segmental brick head and a chamfered brick sill, although these openings are boarded over from the outside. The entrance is located at the east gable end, which has double sheet-metal doors in the original openings, and the gable itself is covered with corrugated steel sheeting. During an inspection in 2002, the south side was partly obscured by two temporary portakabins and a water tank, with a small late-20th century lean-to toilet block to their left. There are no openings on the west gable end.
Inside, the shed is well-preserved, featuring brick wall shafts between the bays that support King-post roof trusses. The windows still have their original small-pane iron glazing, each with a small pivoting opening light. At the far left end, one window has been converted into a door leading into the toilet block. The floor consists of brick paving along the sides, with compact earth in the middle, likely infill from the inspection pits.
