Description
1-2 Hall Green Cottages are a pair of symmetrical, single-fronted cottages built in the 19th century. They are made of white-painted brick and feature a slate roof with sawtooth eaves and end brick stacks. The central gabled porch has two round-headed openings. Cottage No. 2 on the left has a fielded-panel door, while Cottage No. 1 on the right has a half-glazed door. The windows are segmental-headed 3-light casements.
Cottage No. 1 includes a 2-storey lean-to on the right gable end, which has a small-pane glazed window in the lower storey (originally a doorway) and a 2-light window above. The side wall features a 12-pane sash window and a replacement window in an earlier opening. The gable end of the main range has, to the right of the lean-to, a single-light window on the lower storey, a 2-light window on the upper storey, and in the attic, there are both single-light and 2-light windows. In Cottage No. 2, the left gable end has a 12-pane hornless sash window on the right, an inserted window on the left above an added lean-to, and a small attic casement. The lean-to has a replacement door and a 2-light window, while further left is a slightly higher lean-to against a lower rear wing, which features dentil eaves and an end stack, and retains an iron-frame casement window. Cottage No. 1 also has a rear lean-to porch.
