Description
Nos 2 and 3 Bridge Street are a pair of cottages dating from the early 19th century. They are likely constructed of cob and are rendered, with the left-hand cottage being whitewashed. Both cottages have slate roofs featuring eaves brackets and brick end stacks. They are double depth cottages, with the right-hand one having an adjoining lean-to at the right end.
The cottages are two storeys high and have a total of five windows across their front, with regular fenestration and flat porch canopies supported by brackets. The left-hand cottage has its front door on the right side, while the right-hand cottage features steps leading up to a central entrance, both with rectangular fanlights. The right-hand cottage has 16-pane sash windows on the ground floor, outer first floor 12-pane sashes, and a central 8-pane sash. The adjoining two-storey lean-to has a ground floor 3-light casement with six panes per light and a first floor 2-light casement with two panes per light. The left-hand cottage has 16-pane hornless sashes.
The cottages are situated on a raised pavement near the center of the village and are considered attractive examples of small cottages from their period.
