Description

Court Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of whitewashed rendered cob and features a thatched roof with gables at both ends and end stacks. The building has a single depth, two-room plan with one heated room located to the left of the central entrance. It stands two storeys tall and has a symmetrical two-window front, with a central 20th-century front door beneath a 20th-century porch. To the right of the front door are two-light casements, with three and four panes per light, while to the left are three-light similar casements. The rear elevation, which faces Bridge Street, has no windows. Inside, the left-hand room includes a large cross beam, exposed joists, and an open fireplace with stone rubble jambs and a timber lintel. Court Cottage significantly contributes to the main street plan and character of Dunsford village.
