Description
This is a long, 4-bay cow-house made of rubble stone and topped with a slate roof, located south of Fodwen. The front features three asymmetrically arranged doorways with timber lintels. On the left is a plain doorway, while to the left of the center is a raised doorway accessed by stone steps, which contains split doors. To the right, there is a second raised doorway reached by a ramp. Above the left doorway and between the central and right doorways are loft hatch openings, with the former being boarded over. A small stone lean-to with a corrugated roof has been added to the right end of the front. The left end has an added cart-shed bay that features a wide opening with an iron lintel and a ventilation slit to the left, along with a loft hatch above that is boarded over. The west gable end has a loft hatch and is partly rebuilt in brick. The rear is mostly obscured but includes a catslide lean-to.
Inside, the ramped entrance leads to stalls that occupy the two bays on the right. These stalls are divided by wood planked partitions that run perpendicular to the building. There is a feed passage along the rear wall and a manure passage at the front. The roof is supported by pegged tie-beam trusses with struts, although the loft is mostly missing. A small lean-to at the front may have originally served as a calf pen. The external raised doorway to the left of center leads into a bay with a rear doorway further to the right, along with a wood planked partition on the right side that has two doorways leading to the feed and manure passages. The left external doorway opens into a loose-box, which has an opposing doorway to the rear and a manger along the right-hand wall; the loft floor is supported by uncut timber.
