Description
Ty-mawr Farmhouse is a two-unit farmhouse constructed of stone with a slate roof and a central chimney, positioned parallel to the road in a north/south orientation. The original kitchen is located in the southern room, which was once accessed by an external door in the south gable wall. This door has been converted into an internal door following an extension of about 2 meters to the south, where a new external door has been created on the west side of the extension. A ramp with a steel railing leads from the farmyard to this new door. Additionally, the farmhouse has been expanded to the north with a tall single-storey lean-to extension featuring a low-pitched slate roof and a rooflight.
The farmhouse displays 12-pane recessed sash windows, along with one 16-pane window, on the east and west elevations, all with stone sills and flat or cambered arches. The windows on the south elevation have been replaced with uPVC, and the main door has also been modernized.
Inside, the original kitchen features a wide fireplace adorned with fielded panelling and gun racks above the mantel shelf. There is a stone doorway, which was the former entrance, characterized by a Tudor-style head and stopped moulded jambs, topped with a slight cornice. The interior also includes wide boarded doors fitted with strap hinges.
