Description
Corner House is a two-unit farmhouse dating from the 18th century, featuring two storeys and a nearly symmetrical front, though the symmetry is slightly offset by the large kitchen chimney on the left. The exterior is made of rough-rendered masonry in local sandstone, with large irregular exposed quoins. At the rear, there is an added wing to the parlour that also has similar exposed quoins. The roofs are covered with artificial slate and have tile ridges. The kitchen chimney and the chimney at the end of the rear wing have been rebuilt in brick, and the property has UPVC rainwater goods.
The upper windows on the front are replaced unequal sash windows with six panes, while the lower left window is a replaced window with 12 panes in unequal sashes. There is an original 9-pane sash window to the right. On the elevation facing the road, the upper window is a six-pane sash window, and the lower window is a four-pane mid-19th century sash window with margin glazing. Slate window sills are present throughout.
Attached to the left side of the house is a barn constructed from similar masonry, which features opposed doorways and a triangular set of pigeonholes above the lintel of the front doorway.
