Description
The Rocket Cart Shed is a building measuring approximately 5 by 8 metres. It features local limestone walls that are about 0.45 metres thick, rendered on all sides except for the east, where the quoins are exposed. The roof is made of slate with a tile ridge, and it has projecting rafter-ends at the eaves, which indicate where fascias were once installed. At the verges, the sarking boarding extends out and supports a course of bricks set in cement to secure the slates. A small brick chimney is located at the north gable end, topped with a concrete cap at the cornice level. The original rainwater gutters and pipes are no longer present.
The south gable end features a cart doorway with dressed stone jambs and a segmental arch, the stones of which have pecked chiselled margins. The shed doors are constructed with ledges, braces, and battens, and they have cover strips over the batten joints. These doors are hung on full-length bolted iron strap hinges, with a wicket door incorporated into the left door. There are concrete tracks in front of the shed for the cart to roll out on.
On the east and west sides, there is one window each, featuring brick quoins and cambered arches, along with sandstone sills. Only remnants of the window frames and security bars remain.
