Description
Hendre-fawr farmstead is a group of farm buildings that includes a two-storey single-unit house on the left, a barn, and another two-storey range arranged in a line parallel to the road. There are single-storey ranges at each end, positioned at right angles, creating three sides of a roadside farmyard. The buildings are constructed from axe-dressed uncoursed local limestone, topped with slate roofs and tile ridges.
The house, located on the left, is limewashed and features a wide stone-built open-fronted porch that connects it to the adjacent single-storey range at right angles. This single-storey range is part of the domestic area, separate from the farmyard, and may have functioned as an out-kitchen. The house has a single two-light casement window on the right, with another two-light casement window above that is not aligned. A large chimney is situated on the left side of the house, which also has a rear wing that is slate-roofed with a lateral chimney.
The barn features a large central great door with a segmental arch, along with ventilation slits on either side. There is also a door and a small loft window on the right side of the barn. The farmyard is enclosed by a single-storey range at right angles, constructed with similar stonework and a slate roof at the front (with sheeting at the rear). This range includes a door and two windows with voussoir heads, as well as lean-to stone annexes facing the roadside and the rear.
