3. Stables at Bodrhyddan Hall

The stables at Bodrhyddan Hall are a Grade II listed building, with the earliest part being the short west range. This area was likely originally a coach house but is now used as a house. It is constructed from roughly coursed and squared rubble and features a slate roof with an end wall stack. The building is two storeys high and consists of a four-bay range, with arcaded segmentally arched lower openings. The two bays on the right have been infilled with a doorway and a 12-pane sash window, while the two bays on the left remain open. The upper windows are three-light casements that have been inserted into original openings, which feature steep arched voussoir heads.

The north range is primarily a late 19th-century building, likely representing the rebuilding of an earlier structure. It is made of well coursed and squared rubble with a slate roof. This range is also two storeys high and has a five-window layout, with coped gabled dormers that have windows divided by a central mullion and a high-set transom. The upper windows align with the lower openings, which consist of wide chamfered segmental archways alternating with paired windows, all featuring chamfered voussoir heads. The stable doors are recessed on either side and centrally within the arched openings. Additionally, there is a mounting block and a horse trough, which has been moved from its original location in Rhyl, against the wall of this range.

The clock tower is located at the angled corner between the north and east ranges of the yard and appears to be an integral part of their construction. It features a wide segmental archway and a clock in the upper stage, accompanied by an inscription that reads: 'The above clock and chimes were presented to Maurice William Wyn Rowley-Conwy by the Bodrhyddan tenantry and well-wishers to commemorate the attainment of his majority March 27th 1895'. The tower has a gabled roof topped with an octagonal bell cupola that has a leaded dome and an ornate wrought iron weather vane. The east range provides further stabling and has paired segmental arches with segmental headed windows above. To the right, a short length of wall links the stables with a row of houses that form the southern boundary of the yard, featuring a segmental archway in the wall with a steep gablet forming a pediment above it.
